Requirements

  • Lived experience as a recipient of youth-serving systems (e.g., mental health, foster care, juvenile justice, special education, or Wraparound services).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong ability to engage and build rapport with youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, advocate, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Skills in conflict resolution, crisis support, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to maintain hope, optimism, and a strengths-based perspective when working with youth facing complex challenges.
  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII licensing regulations.
  • California driver’s license and ability to be insured by RCS insurance provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, human services) preferred.
  • Experience working with youth or young adults in a peer support, mentoring, or advocacy role strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uses personal lived experience to build authentic, trusting relationships with youth participating in Wraparound services.
  • Ensures the youth voice and choice are prioritized and represented in all Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings and service planning.
  • Supports youth in identifying strengths, needs, culture, and life goals in alignment with Wraparound values and principles.
  • Prepares youth for participation in team meetings, helping them feel confident and empowered to express their perspectives.
  • Provides peer mentoring, coaching, and skill-building in areas such as self-advocacy, communication, problem-solving, and independent living.
  • Assists youth in navigating complex systems including mental health, education, probation, and child welfare.
  • Supports crisis planning and stabilization by helping youth identify triggers, coping strategies, and natural supports.
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries while modeling recovery, resilience, and wellness.
  • Documents services, contacts, and progress notes in a timely manner consistent with program and HFW documentation standards. Participates actively in supervision, team 1 consultations, and ongoing training related to High Fidelity Wraparound.
  • Contributes to Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) activities, might involve membership on a PQI committee or work group, service as a peer reviewer, data collection for PQI and evaluation purposes, completion of PQI questionnaires and surveys or participation in focus groups, or other activities as identified by PQI committees or work groups.
