About The Position

The Youth Outreach Worker is responsible for conducting match support visits at King Kennedy Community Center, providing supervision, follow-up, and support for their caseload. This role also involves assisting with special events as a program representative. The position requires recruiting, training, screening, interviewing, and evaluating volunteers, ensuring they have quality characteristics to serve as program volunteers. The worker will conduct interviews with parents/guardians to ensure they understand their role and assess the background, interests, and preferences of the child, volunteer, and parent/guardian to ensure a compatible match. Maintaining systematic contact with matches according to the Policies & Procedures Manual is crucial, serving as a supportive element. The role involves evaluating the child's home situation to make referrals to other resources and agencies, and maintaining a schedule of events and facility hours at the King Kennedy Community Center gymnasium. The Youth Outreach Worker will act as a liaison between BBBS and other social service agencies, coordinate with local providers to bring services to the center (e.g., educational activities, mental health services, parenting/caregiver outreach, suicide prevention programming), and ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures set by local and National Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations. Quality control is maintained through file reviews, specific feedback, and tracking casework statistics. The position requires maintaining casework records, the policy manual, and providing monthly/yearly reports. Collaboration with other agencies and making inter-agency referrals are key. The worker will plan and implement monthly activities with Caseworker(s) and the Program Committee, attend scheduled staff, agency, and community meetings, and comply with all grant requirements, including evaluation and objective achievement. Participation in events/fundraisers is expected, and all duties must be performed in a timely manner. The role requires representing BBBS, KKCC, & F&CS positively to the public and complying with agency policies, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).
  • Some experience in social services.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with local providers to bring services to the center, including but not limited to: educational activities, mental health services, parenting/caregiver outreach services, suicide prevention programming and other program programming, preferably evidence based, targeting at risk and underserved, ages 6-17.
  • Ensure compliance to standards, policies and procedures established by the local and National Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations.
  • Ensure quality control through review of individual files and specific feedback and track casework statistics to assess individual performances.
  • Maintain all casework records, policy manual, and provide monthly/yearly reports on the program status.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and make appropriate inter-agency referrals.

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, agency meetings and community meetings.

  • Perform all duties in a timely manner.
  • Represent BBBS, KKCC, & F&CS to the public in a positive and energetic manner.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
