About The Position

To provide case management support to at-promise students and assessment and referrals to community organizations. This role serves as a liaison between District schools and outside agencies for students involved in gang activity and other high-risk behaviors. The position involves assessing needs, recommending referrals to community resources, providing ongoing support, and employing strategies to reconnect at-risk youth to school and community activities. Responsibilities include documenting progress, planning and executing field trips and awareness presentations, operating office equipment, maintaining attendance, and conducting home visits to foster family engagement.

Requirements

Knowledge of intervention strategies and restorative approaches with at-promise youth.
Working knowledge of law applicable to school attendance and truancy.
Ability to deliver curriculum relevant to at-promise youth.
Ability to communicate effectively with at-promise youth, site administrators, families, and representatives from community agencies.
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with school site staff, District staff, students, families, and community and agency representatives.
Ability to use appropriate telephone and e-mail etiquette.
Ability to use appropriate English grammar, spelling, punctuation and business vocabulary.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals and community organizations.
Any combination of education, training or related experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
Typically this would be acquired through: an Associate’s degree or higher in Sociology or Psychology, and one year experience working with at-promise youth.
Valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Bilingual fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

Serve as liaison between District schools and outside agencies in matters relating to at-promise students involved in gang activity and other high risk behaviors.
Assess needs and recommend appropriate referrals to community resources or human service agencies.
Provide ongoing support and case management services to bridge at-promise students to trusted adults on campus.
Employ strategies to re-connect at-promise students risk youth to school and community activities.
Document and track progress of intervention efforts.
Plan, organize and execute field trips and excursions to local community colleges, universities, as well as other culturally significant or relevant venues.
Plan, organize, and direct awareness and prevention presentations (gang, drug, conflict, and other high risk behaviors).
Operate a computer and mass market software applications such as MS Office and Google Suite, and other contemporary office equipment.
Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.
Conduct home visits to provide ongoing support and bridge families to school for meaningful relationships and engagement.
Perform related duties as assigned.
