About The Position

St. Theresa Catholic Church & School is seeking a Youth Ministry & Discipleship Intern to support the parish's Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs. This internship is designed for a college student who is passionate about Jesus Christ, the Catholic Church, and helping young people grow as missionary disciples. The intern will work directly with the Director of Discipleship and gain hands-on experience in Catholic youth ministry, evangelization, discipleship, ministry operations, communications, event execution, and leadership. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth ministry & discipleship, organized, dependable, teachable, and willing to contribute both administratively and directly to the life of the youth ministry & Confirmation.

Requirements

  • Be a practicing Catholic and college student committed to growing in faith and following Jesus Christ.
  • Have a genuine passion for working with teenagers and helping young people encounter Christ.
  • Be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow through on responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently after training.
  • Be teachable, coachable, and receptive to feedback.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, volunteers, parents, and teenagers.
  • Be comfortable using common digital and organizational tools.
  • Demonstrate maturity, good judgment, and professionalism when working with minors.
  • Be willing to contribute to both administrative work and hands-on ministry.
  • Be available for some evening and weekend ministry activities.
  • Be able to commit to approximately 10–15 hours per week during the academic year.
  • Complete all applicable diocesan and parish requirements, including required background screening, safe-environment training, and other applicable protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous youth ministry, parish, leadership, communications, or administrative experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine communications and materials for teens, parents, volunteers, and small group leaders.
  • Maintain youth ministry and Confirmation calendars, schedules, records, and materials.
  • Organize digital files, forms, documents, and track action items, deadlines, and follow-up tasks.
  • Assist with retreat and event preparation, logistics, and coordination.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of Saturday youth ministry gatherings and other events.
  • Support adult and teen small-group leaders in creating welcoming environments for teenagers.
  • Build positive relationships with teenagers while maintaining appropriate ministry boundaries.
  • Assist with facilitating small-group conversations and other elements of youth ministry programming.
  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with the Director of Discipleship.
  • Learn the principles and practices of Catholic evangelization, discipleship, and youth ministry.
  • Gain experience in ministry planning, project management, communication, and leadership.
  • Receive coaching and feedback for personal, spiritual, professional, and leadership growth.
