Under the direction of the Pastor, the Youth Minister is responsible for assisting in the management of the Youth Ministry program for the Parish. The employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1). This role requires recognizing and supporting the unique Catholic Mission of the Diocese by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The teacher may not espouse, in word or deed, any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The minister should give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey; strive to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example. The position involves assisting in overseeing youth ministry and directing its mission and vision, providing leadership and input to the Pastor in developing strategies for spiritual growth for youth, and educating the congregation and its youth on the intentions and direction of the youth ministry with the pastor's approval and guidance. The role encourages and nurtures youth and their families in the Catholic understanding and tradition of Christian living, helping parents nurture the faith of their children through ministry. A high-energy, spirit-filled environment is expected, with flexibility in commitment and energy devoted to youth. The minister will explore ways to keep youth and their families involved in their faith and church life through activities like retreats, service projects, and social gatherings. Cooperation with other churches in the diocese and their youth leaders for inter-church youth ministry events is also part of the role. Organizing fundraisers to build accountability and community between youth, fostering good communications through various channels (internet, mailings, calls, school visits, bulletins, pulpit announcements), and instilling church values by meeting with Junior and Senior High school groups are key responsibilities. The minister will assist with all youth-related activities within the approved budget and render financial and other reports as requested by the pastor. Ensuring compliance with the diocesan safe environment program at all times is mandatory. Other duties as assigned.
