About The Position
The Yarrow Family YMCA is seeking a Youth Sports Instructor to teach sports to children. This part-time position requires individuals who are 18 years or older, have experience playing and teaching sports, and are interested in working with children.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- CPR/AED/First Aid from one of the following certifying organizations: American Safety & Health Institute, American Heart Association, American Red Cross
- Knowledge and expertise in at least 2-3 different sports
- Ability to communicate effectively to youth participants and their parents/guardians
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in Sports activities
- Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child
- Ability to see and supervise children
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper sports techniques
- Available weekdays or Saturdays between 9:00 am and 11:00 am and/or 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Nice To Haves
- Experience playing Sports
- Interest in teaching sports to children
- Experience teaching others to play sports
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach youth in at least 2 different types of sports classes, using your sports experience and education
- Interact and encourage the children to participate in the activities during classes
- Teach/Model appropriate techniques and skills
- Communicate effectively with students in a patient, friendly manner
- Show how you are a positive role model
