About The Position

The Youth Housing Support (YHS) position will be the primary day contact person for youth. The goal of the program is to provide housing and support for youth who are MCFD involved. The role of the day staff person is to support youth in a housing setting to settle, manage stressors and potential crisis while supporting to focus on individual goals for the following day. This position will work in a team environment utilizing a holistic approach to support each youth's individual needs around mental health, life skills, community supports, housing and other identified areas.

Requirements

  • A relevant bachelor's degree, such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care, or other combinations of education, experience and training.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth.
  • Emergency First Aid certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Immunization records, including TB testing
  • Criminal Record Check, completed by Threshold
  • Ability to agree and follow our policies and processes
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team

  • Experience facilitating programming is an asset
  • ASIST training is an asset
  • NVCI training is an asset
