About The Position

The Metropolitan Action Commission partners with families in poverty using a Whole Family/2Gen Approach. This approach meets the needs of both the child and the adult in their lives building a system of care around the entire family. Our programs and services break the cycle of poverty by addressing the root causes by increasing family economic security, educational success, and health and well-being from one generation to the next. The Youth Food Worker will work in a fast-paced, team environment to ensure the preparation of nutritious meals for children and youth as part of the Summer Food Services Program. Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Core values of the Metropolitan Action Commission including exemplary internal and external customer service, teamwork, and treatment of all persons with respect, dignity, and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators and other storage areas. Prepare a variety of food for meal distribution following approved procedures.
  • Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
