The role involves responding in an emergency medical vehicle to various situations including reported emergencies, non-emergencies, and interhospital transports. The EMT is responsible for providing efficient and immediate basic life support care to patients at the scene, enroute to, and within the hospital. This includes performing non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and bone splinting. The position also involves performing specialized life-sustaining procedures within a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service, providing immediate emergency care and transport for critically ill or injured patients.
