About The Position

Asphalt Green is seeking experienced, dependable, and energetic Part-Time Football Coaches to support our Youth Flag Football programming at our Upper East Side campus. This role is responsible for leading practices, teaching football fundamentals, developing age-appropriate lesson plans, supporting game play, preparing field areas, and creating a positive experience for youth participants ages 5–15. The ideal candidate is passionate about sharing their football knowledge with young players, has experience working with children, and brings strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and energy to every session. Youth sports coaches play an important role in helping children build confidence, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love of movement. As a Part-Time Football Coach, you will help participants learn the game, develop skills, stay active, and feel supported in a fun, structured, and inclusive environment. This role helps uphold the high standards of Asphalt Green’s Youth Flag Football programming while creating a positive experience for players and families.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching, teaching, or working with children, including very young children.
  • Knowledge of football fundamentals, techniques, routes, play calling, and game concepts.
  • Ability to develop and lead age-appropriate practice plans.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for working with youth.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-focused mindset and ability to collaborate with other coaches and staff.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work the program schedule from September through June.
  • Ability to work Friday evenings 5:45 PM–8:15 PM.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • High school, college, semi-professional, or professional football playing experience.
  • Prior youth football, flag football, coaching, camp, recreation, or youth sports experience.
  • Experience creating lesson plans or practice plans for children.
  • Experience working with players across a wide age range, especially ages 5–15.
  • CPR/AED or First Aid certification.
  • Experience supporting sports programs, clinics, leagues, or youth development programs.
  • Bilingual or multilingual language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead youth flag football practices and sessions for players ages 5–15.
  • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that support player learning and skill development.
  • Teach football fundamentals, techniques, game routes, play calling, and team concepts.
  • Help players improve their knowledge of the game in a fun, safe, and structured environment.
  • Ensure all players are engaged and have opportunities to participate.
  • Adapt instruction based on age, ability, skill level, and group needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for young athletes.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, effort, and respect.
  • Ensure that all children have equal opportunities to play and participate.
  • Support participants with different experience levels and learning styles.
  • Communicate clearly and positively with players, families, and staff.
  • Help participants build confidence, knowledge, and enjoyment of the sport.
  • Prepare field and player areas before sessions.
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and organization of equipment.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized playing environment.
  • Follow Asphalt Green’s safety standards, program expectations, and youth sports guidelines.
  • Communicate any concerns, incidents, equipment needs, or program issues to Youth Sports leadership.
  • Represent Asphalt Green professionally with participants, families, and team members.
