Youth Development Specialist III (Wai'anae Clubhouse)
About The Position
At Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i, our Clubhouses provide youth with more than a place to go after school—they provide mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed. As a Youth Development Specialist, you will help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where youth feel valued, connected, and empowered. This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, community-minded, and passionate about helping young people grow and thrive. The Youth Development Specialist supports the daily implementation of programs and activities designed to promote academic success, leadership development, healthy lifestyles, and positive social growth for youth ages 6–17. This role focuses on building meaningful relationships with youth while maintaining a safe, structured, and inclusive Clubhouse environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse populations
- Energetic, patient, dependable, and team-oriented
- Ability to work independently and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Availability for occasional evenings or weekends as needed
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities across education, recreation, leadership, and wellness
- Build positive, supportive relationships with youth and families
- Encourage participation and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment
- Reinforce positive behaviors, teamwork, and decision-making skills
- Support Club events, outreach efforts, and community engagement activities
- Assist with daily program operations, setup, materials, and reporting
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality youth programming
