About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs is seeking a Youth Development Professional to join their team. This role requires an in-depth understanding of youth development principles, practical experience in managing group activities for children, and a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for club members. The position involves assisting in program planning and implementation, monitoring member engagement, and maintaining a safe and organized environment. The professional will interact with children to provide guidance and support, promote the club, and build relationships with members and parents. They will also be responsible for identifying and addressing behavioral issues, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining program equipment and supplies. Awareness of potential donors and grant opportunities is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year experience in planning and implementing youth programs, activities such as tutoring.
  • High School Education
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to be flexible and change/modify programming based on member feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and ideas to then implement at the club.
  • Ability to organize and supervise club members in a safe environment.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Cope and handle high-stress situations.
  • TB testing is a mandatory requirement for this position, with initial clearance needed prior to employment and renewal certification required every four years.
  • Required to maintain acceptable fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that include arts, STEAM, sports, leadership, and healthy lifestyles, incorporating the core areas of BGCA.
  • Monitor and track the success of planned activities and club member engagement.
  • Prepare and organize materials for each program session in advance.
  • Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks.
  • Maintain an organized and clean classroom environment, ensuring COVID guidelines and safety protocols are followed.
  • Greet and scan members in and out daily to record attendance.
  • Promote the club and recruit new members by encouraging full participation.
  • Participate in club events and attend meetings as required.
  • Engage and build relationships with members and parents.
  • Utilize social-emotional skills to identify and address behavioral issues and notify the Club Director of any escalating concerns.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment by adhering to safety protocols while supervising members in the program area.
  • Monitor rooms during rotations for any support and safety concerns.
  • Report and document any club member incidents or accidents.
  • Maintain a productive work environment by keeping an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order.
  • Recommend necessary requisitions, subject to approval by the Club Director.
  • Be aware of prospective individual donors and corporations, as well as potential foundation and grant opportunities.
  • Record accurate timesheets and obtain necessary approvals daily.
