We have opportunities to mentor youth by assisting with program activities and creating on-going relationships. This role focuses on activity and program support at our school based KidsCare location. Job Summary: The Youth Development Professional Lead plays a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for youth ages 5–12 participating in KidsCare programming. This position leads the day-to-day implementation of site programming while supporting staff, maintaining program quality, and ensuring a positive experience for youth and families. The YDP Lead serves as the on-site leader during program hours, helping coordinate daily activities, support staff, reinforce safety expectations, and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes youth development, academic success, and social-emotional growth.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Demonstrated competence working with youth ages 5-12.
  • Minimum one year experience in a role overseeing school-aged children in a group supervision setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with high energy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter, drive, high level of expectations and performance for self and others.
  • Ability to move continuously throughout program areas (walking figure-8 patterns, bending, kneeling, reaching) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to visually and audibly monitor children in variety of settings (indoor and outdoor)
  • Ability to maintain composure and make quick, sound decisions in emergency or behavioral situations
  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of daily KidsCare programming to ensure activities are engaging, structured, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage daily schedules and routines that create balanced, safe, and fun experiences for youth.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and coaching to Youth Development Professionals to ensure consistent implementation of KidsCare standards and youth development practices.
  • Support staff coverage, transitions, and daily program operations to ensure a positive member experience.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment by ensuring youth are actively supervised and staff maintain proper visibility and engagement.
  • Enforce behavioral expectations and model positive behavior, respect, and responsibility.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to behavioral concerns, safety incidents, injuries, or emergencies, following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure program spaces remain organized, clean, and hazard-free.
  • Utilize Youth Development Strategies to promote members’ sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with youth, families, school staff, and team members to create a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing the organization’s culture of trust, character, and inclusion.
  • Encourage participation and engagement in programs that support youth development and positive outcomes.
  • Support attendance tracking, reporting, supply management, staff scheduling, and other site-level administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Collect program fees and process payments in accordance with organizational procedures and financial expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, school staff, and leadership to support youth success and address site needs.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
