About The Position

The Youth Counselor Technician (Juvenile Justice Officer I) directly supervises and engages with court-involved juveniles at a Youth Development Center or Juvenile Detention Center. The position helps maintain a secure, clean, and safe environment; monitors and observes juveniles; and contributes feedback to the treatment team. Daily records document matters such as safety violations, security breaches, shift activity briefings, crisis interventions, behavioral issues, and youth progress. Duties may also include housekeeping, physical and mechanical restraint, medication administration, and recreational activities. The posting also accepts applications for Youth Counselor Technician Trainees, who undertake a supervised training progression lasting 6 to 24 months. Trainees perform similar supervision, monitoring, recordkeeping, and treatment-team feedback duties. Successful trainees are expected to move into permanent Youth Counselor Technician positions.
