About The Position

The Bridge Family Center has full time and part time openings for Direct Care professionals (aka Youth Coaches) working with adolescents in DCF Care in its Moving on Project, an apartment style Transitional Living Program for adolescent males.

Requirements

  • Experience working with at-risk adolescents.
  • Ability to set professional boundaries and limits.
  • Ability to develop positive rapport with residents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective group skills and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate well with co-workers.
  • Ability to internalize supervision.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license.
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification or eligibility to obtain after hire.
  • Adult First Aid/CPR certification or eligibility to obtain after hire.
  • Full time staff must be DCF Medication Administration certified or become certified after hire.
  • Part time or per diem staff must be able to obtain certification upon request based on program needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field

Responsibilities

  • Maintain control and daily routine of the MOP residents to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
  • Engage residents in positive peer interactions, recreational and leisure time activities.
  • Supervise and assist residents in study time, as well as daily chores, cooking, and other daily living activities.
  • Transportation of residents, as needed.
  • Conduct apartment spot checks.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling.
  • Conduct intake and discharge procedures for residents.
  • General maintenance of daily/shift documentation.
  • Implement incentive program.
  • Aid in teaching Basic Life Skills to all participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
