About The Position

The Alternative Placement Adolescent Center (APAC) is a 24/7 facility seeking a Youth Care Worker responsible for the daily operation and direct supervision of residents. The role involves providing a safe, secure, and caring environment for up to 8 gender-specific youth, working scheduled shifts, and being part of an "On Call" rotation for staff sick calls and facility emergencies. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after training.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Provide proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Meet Licensing Staff Qualifications and Training requirements under Section 105 of the “Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies” (PRLU).
  • Pass necessary background investigations aligning with State Licensing standards and Benton County hiring authority.
  • No felony conviction or legal infractions causing alarm to the employer.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends).
  • Ability to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, talk or hear.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to use close vision for computer screen work.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate with outside agencies, parents, visitors, and stakeholders on a professional level.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years working with adolescents in out-of-home placement or a professional setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain referral paperwork and properly use a case management system for admissions.
  • Collect and inventory resident personal property during admission.
  • Complete admission paperwork according to licensing requirements (PRLU) and facility guidelines.
  • Understand and utilize all building functions for safety and activity purposes.
  • Maintain a reasonable line of sight and hearing of youth based on their needs and circumstances.
  • Properly supervise youth 24/7 according to licensing standards.
  • Assist youth with their basic needs (physical, emotional, and spiritual).
  • Maintain a respectful driving record for transporting residents to appointments.
  • Ensure all facility conditions are safe and healthy.
  • Provide residents with a minimum of 3 balanced meals daily, plus snacks and beverages.
  • Understand State Licensing guidelines for supervising youth in a shelter environment.
  • Ensure all youth are free from harm.
  • Act as a mandated reporter.
