About The Position

For youth who have experienced trauma, instability, or mental health challenges, healing begins with consistency, structure, and meaningful relationships. One Hope United is seeking compassionate and dedicated Youth Care Workers to help create a therapeutic residential environment where youth can learn, heal, and grow. In this role, you'll do more than supervise youth. You'll serve as a mentor, role model, coach, and trusted adult who helps young people build confidence, develop life skills, and work toward a brighter future. This is a purpose-driven role where you can make a daily difference by providing consistency, encouragement, and positive support to youth navigating significant life challenges. You will receive ongoing training, including certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and other behavior management approaches. You will collaborate with clinicians, case managers, educators, supervisors, and fellow residential staff who share your commitment to helping youth succeed. You will develop professional skills while helping youth work toward goals outlined in their Individual Treatment Plans and build meaningful connections with youth, celebrating their progress, successes, and milestones.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and required insurance coverage
  • Ability to successfully complete a DCF background check and obtain approval to transport youth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
  • A willingness to work with youth experiencing behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support to youth in accordance with OHU and DCF policies.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
  • Teach, model, and participate in daily living activities, social skill development, emotional regulation, recreation, and independent living skills.
  • Implement youth treatment goals as outlined in Individual Treatment Plans and the OHU Residential Program Plan.
  • Maintain certification and competency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and other approved behavior-management strategies.
  • Follow program schedules, behavioral expectations, and treatment interventions designed to support youth success.
  • Serve as a positive role model and provide guidance, structure, and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and treatment team members to provide high-quality care and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Protect client privacy and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
