About The Position

The Youth Care Worker is responsible for the daily operation and direct supervision of residents in the APAC shelter. This role provides a safe, secure, and caring environment for up to 8 gender-specific youth within a 24/7/365 work environment. The position involves working scheduled shifts and being part of an "On Call" rotation to cover staff absences and facility emergencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after training.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have and provide proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must meet Licensing Staff Qualifications and Training requirements under Section 105 of the “Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies” (PRLU).
  • Required to have necessary background investigations aligning with State Licensing standards and Benton County hiring authority.
  • Shall not have any felony conviction or legal infractions causing alarm to the employer.
  • Must be able to communicate with outside agencies, parents, visitors, and stakeholders on a professional level.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, stand and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision and hearing abilities required include the ability to use close vision with large amounts of computer screen work.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years working with adolescents in out-of-home placement or a professional setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and properly use admission paperwork and a case management system from referral sources.
  • Collect and inventory all personal property of residents.
  • Complete admission paperwork according to licensing requirements (PRLU) and facility guidelines.
  • Understand and utilize all building functions for safety and activity purposes.
  • Maintain a reasonable line of sight and hearing of youth based on their needs and circumstances.
  • Properly supervise youth 24/7 according to licensing standards.
  • Assist youth with their basic needs (physical, emotional, and spiritual).
  • Maintain a respectful driving record as determined by the administrative team.
  • Transport youth to and from appointments as directed.
  • Ensure all facility conditions are safe and healthy.
  • Provide youth with a minimum of 3 balanced meals daily, plus additional snacks and beverages according to licensing standards.
  • Understand State Licensing guidelines for supervising youth in a shelter environment.
  • Ensure all youth are free from harm.
  • Act as a mandated reporter.
