YOUTH CARE WORKER
About The Position
Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Youth Care Worker at Walton Academy for Growth and Change in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Walton Academy provides residential treatment to improve the lives of Youth through mental health and substance abuse services. They offer skills and opportunities to youth in areas such as Carpentry/Home Building and Culinary Arts. The role involves providing 24-hour security and supervision to ensure the safety of youth in a high-risk residential treatment DJJ program for male youths aged 13-19. Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting behaviors, joining youth in sports and recreation, and assisting and mentoring them as they develop within the program. Four weeks of paid training are provided to all new staff.
Requirements
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED and 40 hours of college education OR have one-year experience working with youth in organized group activities.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour security and supervision to ensure the safety of youth in a high-risk residential treatment DJJ program for male youths between the ages of 13-19.
- Monitor and document behaviors.
- Monitor and join the Youth during Sports and Recreation time.
- Assist and mentor the youth while they learn and develop within the program.
