About The Position

This position has the responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of children in the TRC-TFC Program, assisting with record keeping and specific program functions and performing duties necessary for the overall care and well-being of children in the residence.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year’s experience in childcare required.
  • Must be able to use a computer and learn software programs.
  • Required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.
  • Must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • May frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
  • May frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
  • Will be required to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day.
  • May occasionally stoop.
  • May occasionally kneel.
  • May occasionally crouch.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or any other language)

Responsibilities

  • Help supervise the youth in the TFC program.
  • Act as a mentor and set a positive example.
  • Oversee and encourage children’s participation in group activities.
  • Provide one-on-one supervision or support as needed.
  • Document children’s progress, immediately reporting any extreme changes in behavior.
  • Report any incidents that may affect the safety of a resident.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Responds appropriately to the individual and special needs of children.
  • Is always aware of the whereabouts of all children.
  • Demonstrates group management and crisis intervention skills.
  • Represents and carries out agency, department and unit policies and procedures.
  • Responds appropriately to fire alarms and fire drills.
  • Supervises recreational activities.
  • Complete log entries and incident reports accurately and regularly.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings as assigned.
  • Uses TRC TFC vehicle appropriately and appropriately completes van logs.
  • Monitors hygiene and health problems of residents.
  • Maintains appropriate ratios.
  • Works cooperatively and is a good team player.
  • Complete all mandated ORR & Abbott House trainings on a timely basis.
  • Any other related duties as required.
