About The Position

As a Youth Care Specialist I, you'll be an essential part of our Emergency Shelter Services team. Your responsibilities would include maintaining safe, visual supervision of children and youth ages 0–19, upholding the structure and therapeutic environment of the program, building genuine and respectful relationships with the youth in our care, and keeping accurate documentation across each shift. In short, our Youth Care Specialist I will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where youth in crisis can heal, grow, and build the life skills they need to thrive.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• A motor vehicle record of 3 points or less
• Proof of active auto insurance
• Comfortable completing CPI (crisis intervention) training
• Staying alert and engaged through shifts of up to 10–12 hours
• A strong written and verbal communicator
• Ability to maintain confidential information appropriately

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
• Experienced in Human Services with at-risk children and/or residential work (strongly preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field
• Prior experience with CPI or other crisis-intervention training
• Bilingual or experience working with culturally and socioeconomically diverse families
