About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a dedicated Youth Care Specialist to join their team and make a positive impact on the lives of youth aged 10-17. This direct service role involves supervising residents, ensuring a safe and secure environment, and providing guidance for educational and life skills development. The specialist will act as a role model, encouraging personal growth and well-being for each resident.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the service population.
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators.
  • Certified CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth/troubled youth in an organized/structured setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a supportive environment for youth.
  • Ensure daily security and up-keep of the facility.
  • Implement and monitor client case plans as directed.
  • Participate in in-service training sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Supervise residents during activities, effectively managing their behavior.
  • Assign and supervise chores.
  • Prepare meals as needed.
  • Screen clients, conduct initial intakes, and administer client satisfaction surveys when directed.
  • Complete required initial paperwork for clients.
  • Oversee shelter clients self-administering all medication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
