About The Position

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Youth Care Professional for the 2nd shift at their residential location in Portland, Oregon. This program, Walden Crossing, is a small PRTF serving up to six youth aged 10-17 with mental and developmental disabilities who have been involved with the justice system. The facility is secure and offers high staff-to-youth ratios, along with 24/7 nursing, recreational and therapeutic professionals, psychiatric services, and various other therapies. The role offers an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of youth and their families.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 Years of Age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • A desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
  • Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training

Responsibilities

  • Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision of the resident's daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Participate with coworkers as a team in the implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services.
  • Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions, and adapt interactions accordingly.
  • Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic.
  • Work effectively with clients’ families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; follow established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques.
  • Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, and planned recreational activities.
