About The Position

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Youth Care Professional for the 2nd shift at their residential location in Portland, Oregon. This program, Walden Crossing, is a small PRTF serving up to six youth aged 10-17 with mental and developmental disabilities who have been involved with the justice system. The facility is secure and offers high staff-to-youth ratios, along with 24/7 nursing, recreational and therapeutic professionals, psychiatric services, and various other therapies. The role offers an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of youth and their families.

Requirements

Must be 21 Years of Age
Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must have a valid driver's license
A desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth
Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training

Responsibilities

Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities.
Provide mentorship and supervision of the resident's daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.
Participate with coworkers as a team in the implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services.
Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions, and adapt interactions accordingly.
Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic.
Work effectively with clients’ families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; follow established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques.
Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, and planned recreational activities.
