Join our team as a seasonal Youth Camp Counselor at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby, MN (~15 miles NE of Brainerd). Hours: 30-40 hours/week Schedule: Monday thru Friday, variety of shifts between the hours of 6:45AM-5:00PM No weekends! Employment in this seasonal role is from approximately May 18 - Aug 31, 2026 Responsible for leading, supporting, engaging, and motivating youth in activity programs. Will assist in developing youth programs and leading and mentoring program participants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Adult/child/infant CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute required prior to the start of camp. Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant. We can provide certification class if needed (required by the start of camp)
  • Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.

Responsibilities

  • Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
  • Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
  • Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
  • Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
  • Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
  • Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
  • Supervise children ranging from ages [insert age range if applicable].
  • Clean up after the children every shift.
  • Play games and other activities with the children.
  • Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
  • Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
  • Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
