Youth Athletics Coach II CARA Swim
About The Position
The Youth Athletics Swim Coach CARA II is r esponsible for the overall organization and support of coaches and participants in of the youth CARA team at Winona Pool. Hours are less than 20 per week and require mornings and weekends. Scheduled days/hours may vary. The salary range for this position is $17.33 - $23.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be available to applicants until filled. Essential Functions: Conducts early morning swim team practices to enhance the swimming ability of all team members. Responsible for the safety of swim team members, staff and volunteers while practicing or participating in a meet. Ensure that the only people in the pool during swim team practices are registered team members. Coordinate car polling to swim meets, recruiting volunteers to assist with activities as needed. Attends CARA meetings as scheduled including those held at facilities other than Winona Pool. Train and lead staff and volunteers. Other Job Functions: Supervision of any volunteer coaches who may be working with team members. Supervision all program practices and team members. May be required to cross train into other areas. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Level and Management Expectations: There are no supervisor/manager responsibilities for this role.
Requirements
- Education: Required: High School/GED.
- Experience: Required: 2 years participation and exceptional knowledge of rules and regulations of competitive swimming.
- Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Must possess knowledge of proper swim stroke techniques and competitive swim training techniques.
- Must understand proper swim stroke techniques and competitive swim.
- Must interact diplomatically with youth, parents and other staff members.
- Demonstrate the skills of good judgment and patience.
- Schedule workouts and meets.
- Must react quickly and correctly in emergency situations and will be required to assist or perform the necessary lifesaving procedures.
- Must make sound judgments, exercise conflict resolution, and exhibit patience when dealing with stressful and/or disciplinary situations.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants in their swimming classes by safe and proper usage of equipment and facilities.

- Preferred: Some course work in recreation, education or related field.
- Preferred: Meet Manager program-Swim Topia.
- Current Lifeguarding and WSI certification preferred.
