About The Position

The Champaign Park District is looking for a dependable and organized Youth & Teen Program Assistant to help support a variety of youth and teen programs, including after-school, summer, and specialty programs. In this role, you'll work closely with the Youth & Teen Program Coordinator to keep programs running smoothly by assisting with scheduling, communication, program logistics, and day-to-day operations while helping create a welcoming environment for participants and families.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with youth, recreation programs, camps, childcare, education, or similar setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based software applications.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and supporting youth and teen programs and special events.
  • Prepare program materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain participant records, attendance, and program documentation.
  • Help coordinate daily program operations and logistics.
  • Assist with supervising participants during programs as needed.
  • Support scheduling and communication with seasonal staff.
  • Help onboard and orient new seasonal employees.
  • Serve as a resource for part-time and seasonal staff during program hours.
  • Respond professionally to questions from parents and participants.
  • Assist with resolving routine participant concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
  • Support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for participants and staff.
