About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Coordinator at Two Rivers YMCA provides leadership and operational support for Youth & Family programs focusing on the Y-Winners junior high afterschool program at the Moline-East Moline YMCA Branch by supervising staff, supporting program delivery, ensuring safe and engaging environments for participants, and helping expand and strengthen YMCA programs within the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 1-2 years of additional education or experience in youth development or related field preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse populations from all social and economic backgrounds.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced program environment.
  • Ability to supervise staff and maintain a safe, positive program environment.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications for infant, child, and adult populations, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Child Abuse Prevention Training, and any additional certifications or trainings required by YMCA youth programming standards. (Required within 30 days of hire and must remain current throughout employment).
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and valid car insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Y-Winners program and oversee the daily supervision of students during program hours.
  • Model strong relationship-building practices with members, families, staff, and program participants.
  • Establish and maintain a dedicated and inclusive space for Y-Winner participants within the Spirit, Mind, and Body Center.
  • Develop a monthly activity calendar and lesson plans focused on the YMCA Core Values, promoting a healthy spirit, mind, and body.
  • Collaborate across YMCA departments to build integrated, cross-program opportunities for teen participants.
  • Work alongside local organizations and community volunteers to design hands-on service projects that empower youth to actively strengthen their community.
  • Train, schedule, and support Youth & Family staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain consistent, clear communication with staff, supervisors, members, and families regarding program operations and participant needs.
  • Identity, report, and respond to safety concerns, maintenance needs, and program incidents in a timely manner.
  • Support implementation of YMCA policies, procedures, and risk management practices across all Youth & Family programs.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, and emergency situations and complete required documentation.
  • Support additional program, staffing, or operational needs as assigned.
