About The Position

180 Degrees is hiring a Youth Advocate for its emergency youth shelter in St. Cloud. The shelter serves young people ages 12–19 experiencing homelessness, family conflict, exploitation, or involvement with child welfare, probation, or law enforcement. Youth Advocates provide a steady, caring presence in the shelter milieu, helping create a safe and structured environment where youth can stabilize and move forward. The role involves direct engagement with youth rather than primarily desk-based work and collaboration with case managers and support staff. The Youth Advocate builds trusting relationships, models life skills, manages the daily rhythm and structure of the shelter, and uses de-escalation skills when difficult situations arise. The role also includes supporting daily living needs and medication management, contributing to case management goals, and maintaining documentation. This is an on-site, awake position at a recently renovated emergency youth shelter in St. Cloud. The position requires regular walking, standing, stair use, and other physical activity, including tasks related to safety checks and meal preparation.
