The Youth Advocate is responsible for supporting and facilitating the social and personal development of adolescents and teenagers. A Youth Advocate is a guide and mentor to youth who gives direction in their academic, vocational, and personal lives and pursuits.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalency
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, communicate with stakeholders, and manage competing tasks

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree
• Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client and location needs

Responsibilities

• Implement SEL/College/Career skill-building curriculum and research-based assessment.
• Develop academic and social emotional goals with students using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
• Conduct ongoing individual and small group sessions with youth to build SEL skills and support academic achievement.
• Participate in and help plan student activities such as school tours, trips, and events related to College & Career development.
• Participate in mentoring activities and assess the youths’ progress towards the fulfillment of decreed goals and objectives.
• Be aware of popular culture and trends to be able to connect with students.
• Demonstrate as a perfect role model.
• Attend related professional development opportunities to build personal/professional skills.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
