About The Position

YoungLives Tulare County is seeking a creative and passionate Mission Staff member to lead and execute effective ministry with adolescent parents. This role involves connecting with teen parents, helping them meet Jesus, and fostering their growth in faith. The Mission Staff member will operate independently, be highly organized, motivated, and a visionary leader, inspiring volunteers and building relationships with adolescents, volunteers, donors, and community leaders. This position will oversee weekly events like clubs, bible studies, and contact work, working collaboratively with other Young Life staff in the area. A female candidate is preferred due to the primary demographic served. The position requires a commitment to Young Life's Christian mission and adherence to its Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan for spiritual development, including prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, and understanding God's Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community and actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Equip leaders, committee, and staff through key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting.
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a reflective leadership team.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping for other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee on effective teamwork and developing yearly ministry strategies.
  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including principals, pastors, and parents.
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.
  • Engage in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid and review them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Recruit, train, mobilize, and retain leaders, childcare, and other volunteers.
  • Provide leadership in assessing and meeting the social needs, spiritual formation, and consistent relational connection with adolescent parents.
  • Meet regularly with the volunteer team for ongoing training, ministry planning, and community building.
  • Implement the 5 C's of Young Life: contact work, club, Campaigners + discipleship, camp, committee.
  • Raise personal and ministry funds as determined by the supervisor.
  • Ensure administrative requirements are handled with excellence and on time.
  • Comply with volunteer management procedures concerning YoungLives volunteers.
  • Develop relationships with schools, adolescent parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers, and other applicable community organizations.
  • Attend all established training, staff meetings, and required events.
  • Ensure alignment and integration with the broader Young Life team in Tulare County.

  • This is a part-time (10 hours per week) position; therefore, it does not provide insurance benefits.
