About The Position

Growing Together Young Parent Outreach Program is seeking a passionate individual to empower young parents and help shape brighter futures for young families in the community. The selected candidate will assist youth and young families by providing them with the skills and resources to thrive and integrate into the community. This role involves providing personalized outreach to young parents, focusing on goal-oriented strategies for enhancing parenting, social skills, and independence. The Young Parent Support Worker will also coordinate with social workers and community professionals, offering crisis intervention and equipping families with essential parenting skills and planning support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory driving abstract.
  • Professional etiquette.
  • High level of flexibility and initiative.
  • Effective teamwork.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sensitivity to sensitive issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Respect for cultural and lifestyle diversity.
  • Uphold ethical standards in all professional interactions.
  • Undergo a Police Information Check (PIC).
  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with crisis line support is advantageous.
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth, as well as young parents and families, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Make connections to community programs and services such as health, employment, education, and advocacy.
  • Provide personalized outreach to young parents.
