About The Position

Thrive Education Partners is seeking an experienced educator to work one-on-one with an autistic young adult in his home and community in Fairport, New York. The role combines individualized instruction, functional life and community skills, and behavior support. The student communicates using short phrases, gestures, and an AAC device, and has significant support needs, including a history of physical aggression. Consistent routines, a trusted adult, and implementation of established behavior and safety plans are important to his success. Thrive provides training and ongoing support from its behavior and educational management team. The educator will provide instruction in communication, functional literacy, and math, and connect learning to daily routines, community activities, leisure, and real-world experiences. The role offers autonomy to shape an individualized program and is intended to grow as the student transitions from traditional school into adulthood. Over time, the educator may help plan transition programming and vocational exploration, establish the student’s weekly schedule, and lead additional support staff by setting program direction and training and coaching team members. This is a long-term, salaried, full-time position based primarily in the student’s home, with regular community outings and local travel. The schedule is approximately four to five days per week, primarily afternoons and early evenings during the current school year, with some school breaks and weekend hours. The schedule may change after graduation. Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving to the Rochester area. Compensation is $60,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and credentials.
