About The Position

Asphalt Green is seeking an energetic, welcoming, and certified Yoga Instructor to join our Group Exercise team at our Upper East Side campus. We are looking for instructors who are passionate about creating an inclusive and engaging class experience, can connect with participants of all fitness levels, and are available to teach Sunday mornings, with opportunities for additional weekday and weekend classes. For more than 50 years, Asphalt Green has been dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and abilities achieve lifelong health and fitness through sports, recreation, and community programs. Requirements

• Current Yoga Instructor certification from a recognized organization.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Experience teaching yoga in a group fitness setting.
• Strong understanding of movement mechanics, alignment principles, and class programming.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to connect with participants of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels.
• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
• Ability to bend, balance, demonstrate, and perform upper- and lower-body yoga poses.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, effective, and engaging yoga classes for participants with diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
• Incorporate yoga props, including blocks, straps, and bolsters, to support proper alignment and accessibility.
• Provide clear, positive, and constructive coaching cues throughout class.
• Demonstrate poses and movement patterns with proper form and technique.
• Identify movement inefficiencies and provide timely, effective corrections using concise coaching cues.
• Foster a welcoming, supportive, and community-focused environment that encourages participant growth and confidence.
• Utilize a microphone when necessary to ensure clear communication during classes.
• Assist with the setup, movement, and storage of class equipment and materials.
