About The Position

We are looking for a Yoga Instructor to join Harvard-Westlake's Athletics department. In this role, you’ll teach classes to students (Grades 10-12) twice per week, giving students a space to build strength, flexibility, and focus alongside the rest of their athletic and academic routine. This is an in-person, part-time, non-exempt position that requires approximately 1.5-2 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Current yoga instructor certification (e.g., RCYT/RYT-200 or equivalent) from a recognized training program.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching group yoga classes to students or adults with a range of experience levels.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate scheduling directly with school staff.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and the ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or ability to complete upon hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching yoga in a school or youth-serving setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a directed study course that meets twice per week.
  • Plan and lead a yoga class, adapting poses, pacing, and difficulty to a range of experience levels.
  • Teach proper alignment, breathing technique, and safe modifications, prioritizing student safety in every session.
  • Create a welcoming, low-pressure environment where students of any prior yoga experience feel comfortable participating.
  • Set up and clean up the community space used for class and maintain equipment.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $30-$35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
