About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Yoga Instructor for its inpatient Detox and Residential treatment facility in Richmond, Virginia. The instructor develops and conducts group yoga sessions, models yoga positions, breathing, stretches, and mindfulness techniques, and creates a therapeutic atmosphere that supports the development of recovery skills. The role encourages clients to engage in mindfulness, self-love, awareness, and self-control. The instructor collaborates with the clinical team to track client progress and coordinate care, documents sessions and client challenges and progress, and models recovery principles such as honesty, integrity, and compassion in client interactions.

Requirements

• Valid yoga instruction certification.
• Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills.
• Strong flexibility, collaboration, and motivational skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least one year of experience in the treatment industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct group yoga sessions, modeling yoga positions, breathing, stretches, and mindfulness techniques.
• Create an engaging, therapeutic atmosphere conducive to developing recovery skills.
• Encourage clients to engage and cultivate mindfulness, self-love, awareness, and control.
• Collaborate with the extended clinical team to track client progress and ensure coordination of care.
• Maintain complete documentation of sessions and client challenges and progress.
• Model recovery principles, including honesty, integrity, and compassion, in client interactions.
