About The Position

Perform custom service related activities: Loading customer vehicles, restocking inventory, verify customer is receiving correct product and quantity. Maintain good housekeeping in yard, warehouse, and vehicles. This role also includes Non CDL Driver duties, which involve performing daily inspections on vehicles, maintaining security for merchandise, keeping the vehicle clean, accurately assembling and loading merchandise for delivery, and operating the vehicle safely. The driver will also convert orders to sales, collect money on COD orders, and notify sales personnel of inventory shortages.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Able to lift at least One Hundred Pounds
Possess a valid Driver’s license recognized by the State of New York
Able to tolerate and function in diverse seasonal climate changes
Familiarity with the grades, dimensions, and species of lumber in stock, and other merchandise stored in the yard or warehouse

Responsibilities

Adherence to all safety regulations
Waiting on customers
Stocking merchandise
Keeping yard clean by picking up trash, bands, lumber covers
Keeping materials/products in a neat and orderly fashion
Performing daily inspections on forklifts as required by OSHA and the Department of Transportation
Operating forklifts in a safe and efficient manner
Using proper material handling techniques to reduce damage to goods and personal injury
Attending/Participating in in-service training and Safety meetings
Reporting any safety issues to immediate supervisor
Storing materials in their proper location
Loading vehicles with the specified materials and quantities listed on sales receipt
Notifying sales person of any items not shipped due to inventory shortages
Ensuring quantities and products to be loaded match sales receipt
Checking all incoming and outgoing vehicles as per gatehouse procedures when assigned to gate
Adhering to all company policies and practices
Performing daily inspections on vehicles as required by OSHA and the Department of Transportation (for Non CDL Driver duties)
Completing Driver inspection reports
Maintaining maximum security for merchandise loaded on the vehicle
Keeping vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion, cleaning at least once a week
Accurately assembling and properly loading merchandise for delivery
Operating vehicle in a safe and efficient manner at all times (for Non CDL Driver duties)
Converting orders to Sales
Collecting money on all C.O.D. orders, obtaining authorization to leave material at site for non collectible COD’s
Ensuring quantities and products to be delivered match delivery order
