About The Position

This Yard Worker – Shunter position ensures that trucks and trailers are safely and properly moved in the yard through coordination with the operations team and wash bay. The shift is Monday - Friday, Nights from 8pm-4:30am, with compensation of $27.59/hr + $1/hr shift premium.

Requirements

One year (1) of experience equivalent to the job description required.
AZ license (Class 1) license preferred.
Accuracy, attention to detail and a team player.
A positive attitude, dependable, and respectful with clients and co-workers.
Good understanding of safe work practices and ability to safely operate dock equipment.

Responsibilities

Move trailers in and out of dock as per dock instructions via radio or satellite.
Ensure reefers are set at the right temperature.
Maintain an organised yard (placing trailers/trucks in their appropriate locations).
Perform visual pre-trips on equipment before backing into the dock. Report any failures to appropriate personnel.
Wash and sanitize trailers as needed. Reports must be completed and handed to the Shift Supervisor on a daily basis.
Wash and sanitize outside carrier trailers as needed.
Perform yard checks including tenant copies to be submitted to dispatch and the dock personnel. Visual checks must be performed every 3 hours. Must verify fuel levels on loaded equipment and fuel if necessary.
Understand and be able to set appropriate temperatures on reefers. Understand different temperature settings (Dual Temps, different zones).
Check oil in shunt trucks, plus other designated mechanical checks on trucks and trailers.
Report mechanical defects on trucks and trailers immediately to the Driver Supervisor, Shop Mechanic, or Dispatcher.
Assist in the clearing of the snow around the building in winter months when necessary.
Ensure all vehicles are plugged in during winter months.
Understand company Occupational Safety and Health regulations and abide by all company policies and procedures. Always be aware of safety sensitive areas.
Monitor Fleet Sweep during Winter months.
All other duties as required.
