About The Position

The Yard Technician assists with rental returns and checkouts at Holt of California’s Stockton, California location. The role helps customers with equipment pickup and return, checks equipment condition and safety, and prepares machines to be ready for rental. The technician also coordinates repair scheduling with rental coordinators and the shop, and supports drivers with loading and unloading equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to two years of related yard experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver license and a clean DMV driving report.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small-group situations to customers and other employees.
• Ability to fulfill essential functions in a consistently alert and safe manner.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers arriving to pick up equipment or returning equipment.
• Check in equipment and perform a safety check to confirm the machine is in the same condition as when rented.
• Assist customers with equipment checkout and loading, and provide instructions about attachments or other items as needed.
• After the initial rental-return inspection, check that the machine is in good working condition.
• Prepare machines for rental by cleaning them, checking fluids, and confirming safety features work properly.
• Add oil, air tires, and replace or repair minor equipment parts and accessories.
• Red-tag equipment requiring repairs.
• Coordinate repair scheduling with rental coordinators and the shop.
• Steam-clean and clean machines, ensure they are rent-ready, and place them on the ready line in the proper location and a uniform position.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading and unchain equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
