About The Position

Forge & Build is hiring a Yard Supervisor at our facility in Monona, IA. The Yard Supervisor is responsible for leading daily yard operations and standards, managing the yard team, ensuring a great customer experience, and driving safety standards at all times throughout the yard. Requirements

  • Ability to operate and maintain all equipment and vehicles in the yard.
  • Must maintain a minimum of a Class B Valid driver’s license.
  • Responsible for upholding and executing all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Self-starter with a mindset of continuously improving yard operations.
  • Ability to lead and support team members through driving company culture.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to proactively solve problems as they arise.
  • Provides and delivers excellent customer experience.
  • Helps identify new business opportunities with contractors, builders, developers, homeowners, etc., by referring them to outside sales representatives.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Understanding of basic math for calculating quantities and ensuring accurate inventory counts.

  • Must be able to be outside during extreme and varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Constantly lifts and/or moves objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Regularly lifts and/or moves heavy objects, equipment parts, and tools, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Occasionally moves objects up to 100 pounds or more.
  • Spends extended periods of standing and walking on varying, possibly uneven surfaces within the field environment while performing tasks such as inspections, repairs, maintenance, and/or maneuvering throughout the yard.
  • Remains stationary in one position for long periods of time, which can include standing or sitting.
  • Moves self into different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, which will require bending and stooping.
  • Uses hands, fingers, and arms to manipulate tools, equipment, and small parts with precision and control; specifically, constantly uses hands and wrists to finger, handle, feel, or make repeating motions and reach with hands and arms.
  • Performs repetitive motions such as gripping, twisting, and turning.
  • Good vision and hearing are essential for safely operating machinery, reading technical manuals, and communicating with colleagues and customers.
  • Performs specific tasks with eyes that include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection at all times.
  • Moves around large equipment and navigates obstacles within the field and yard; may occasionally move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Constantly assesses the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining yard inventory control and procedures.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating all deliveries and transfers.
  • Responsible for coordinating all shipping and receiving activities.
  • Maintains a safe and organized yard environment.
  • Ensures completion of all routine inspections, repairs, maintenance, and equipment cleaning.
  • Responsible for all loading and unloading of building materials while strictly maintaining safety standards.
  • Responsible for general yard standards and building cleanup in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintains a safe and hazard-free workplace at all times.
  • Serves as an advocate for driving and promoting company culture and upholding high standards of customer experience.
  • Maintains all safety requirements and ensures all safety training is completed.
  • Maintains organization and proper maintenance of all yard operations.
  • Ensures all loads are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Communicates issues that could impact the business to the Store Manager in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assists with various other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
