About The Position

Yard Staff work at IAA facilities, primarily outdoors in all types of weather. The role focuses on safe, timely yard operations and customer service, with vehicle check-in, cleaning, movement, and handling. Staff use technology and facility resources, and receive on-the-job training in forklift and loader operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Upbeat demeanor and ability to ensure positive customer interactions.
• Teamwork skills.
• Ability to apply security, maintenance, and safety procedures to protect company and customer assets.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment, including safety gloves and safety glasses.
• Ability to recognize potentially unsafe situations, avoid accidents, and respond appropriately when accidents occur.
• Ability to follow industry-specific regulations for handling hazardous materials.
• Ability to constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs; frequently do so up to 50 lbs; and occasionally do so over 100 lbs.
• Ability to constantly reach outward, handle and finger objects, stand, walk, and sit.
• Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl.
• Ability to remain alert to hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles in the work area.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of cars or general mechanical knowledge.
• Basic automotive repair skills.
• Experience in the rental or construction area.
• Experience in the equipment rental or construction industry and/or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Check in vehicles by recording and filing information for vehicles assigned to the facility.
• Thoroughly clean vehicles to improve their appearance and enhance their value at auction; training is provided.
• Safely operate passenger vehicles to move them around the facility and/or participate in drive-through auctions.
• Recover keys, license plates, and other information or objects from vehicles and store them in appropriate locations at the branch.
• Assist visitors by providing guidance and directing them to the appropriate person for further assistance.
• Train and develop on the job in forklift and loader operation.
