About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Yard Truck Driver in Dubuque, Iowa. The position handles tractor trailers in the yard and within an area on public roads. Driving is solo and yard-only, with no-touch freight. Equipment includes a yard truck and 53-foot dry vans, containers, and reefers. Pay is $28 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours, approximately 40 hours per week, and weekly pay of $1,120 or more. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with a 9:00 PM dispatch time. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads.
• Comply with applicable safety and DOT regulations.
• Participate in continuous training and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Maintain accurate move and yard inventory records.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
