About The Position

The Yard Spot Operator is responsible for conducting pre-trip inspections of yard equipment, safely operating a yard tractor to move trailers, and performing daily inventories. This role also involves reporting damaged equipment, completing required reports, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas. Additionally, the operator may assist with picking, preparing, and palletizing finished goods, operating forklifts, and using a handheld RF scanner for warehouse tasks. Attention to detail, adherence to procedures, and good communication are essential for accurate order fulfillment and inventory integrity.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum + years warehousing experience
Previous yard spotting experience
Ability to perform basic math calculations
Must have good verbal and written skills
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Current forklift certification is required
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Oracle experience preferred
Stand-up forklift preferred
Motorized (electric) pallet jack certification is a plus
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-trip inspections of yard equipment to identify damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs and report findings appropriately.
Safely operate a yard tractor to move empty and loaded trailers throughout the distribution center yard.
Follow radio or electronic dispatch instructions to position designated trailers at assigned dock doors.
Conduct daily trailer and container inventories, documenting locations, status (empty or loaded), refrigeration settings, and equipment movement to ensure accurate yard management.
Report damaged trailers, containers, or equipment promptly to support safe operations.
Complete required operational, inspection, and equipment damage reports accurately and timely.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard equipment and work areas.
Maintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
Perform other yard-related duties as assigned.
Work in a team-oriented environment by picking, preparing, and palletizing finished goods for shipment – working overtime as needed to accomplish the daily/weekly shipping goals.
Operate forklift or other equipment as required in the movement of material within the distribution center.
Complete a daily vehicle inspection report prior to operating any equipment.
Responsible for the proper charging of the vehicles after use.
Performing light maintenance duties as required (i.e. watering battery properly).
Required to complete warehouse tasks using a handheld RF scanner (picking, replenishing, and putting away items).
Ensuring precise data entry, verifying product details, and recording serial numbers to maintain inventory integrity.
Follows and understands all company and job-specific procedures.
Meets all facility standards applied within select departments.
Will pick and stack products according to procedure and special instructions.
Cross-checking is needed to 100% accuracy.
Pick, check, over pack, consolidate, and process parcel cases as necessary.
Follow all safety instructions to properly load / unload trailers according to procedure.
Verify accuracy of shipments received, determine locations for products, and put product into available locations.
Work independently and proactively.
Clearly communicate with management and department personnel on key issues regarding returns processing.
Adhere to all good manufacturing practices, Food and Drug guidelines and Drug Enforcement Laws.
Perform general housekeeping duties.
Work in teams as designated. (i.e. Safety, 5S, Lean, etc.)
