Yard Specialist
About The Position
Hirschbach is seeking a Yard Specialist to support our new fleet operations by inspecting equipment, coordinating repairs, maintaining yard organization, and ensuring tractors and trailers are ready for the road out of our Indy Shop. This is a great opportunity for someone with transportation experience, mechanical knowledge, or a passion for trucks and fleet operations to make an impact every day. As a Yard Specialist, you'll conduct routine yard inspections to identify damaged or inoperable tractors and trailers, create repair orders and document repair estimates for equipment requiring maintenance, coordinate with external vendors by submitting repair requests for work outside the scope of the shop, perform minor repairs, including replacing tires, lights, mud flaps, and other basic maintenance items, and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient yard by ensuring equipment is properly positioned and parked. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3-5 years of experience in the transportation, fleet maintenance, or related industry OR equivalent military experience
- Valid driver's license, CDL A preferred
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the role
Nice To Haves
- Certifications (EPA 609, Cummins, Navistar, Daimler)
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools (Cummins Insite, DTNA, Bendix, etc.)
- Class 8 truck repair experience (electronics, PMs, brakes, suspension)
Responsibilities
