About The Position
The Yard Specialist is a Certified Motor Vehicle Operator who operates primarily out of the truck yard at the G&C Foods facility. The Yard Specialist is responsible for the fleet of trucks and trailers, including placement, inspection, and general maintenance of the equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- CDL-A preferred
- NYS Driver's License
Responsibilities
- Performs daily yard equipment inventory at the start of each shift
- Pulls all returns and pallet jacks off trailers left in the yard and plugs them in
- Bring backhaul paperwork from the Guard shack to Transportation
- Fuels Trailers
- Move trailers to designated docks for loading and unloading
- Properly pre-trip Yard Tractors and Trailers to make sure they are DOT compliant
- Report Service issues to dispatch and Service
- Empty trash by the fuel pumps and by vacuum in the garage as needed
- Assist Drivers as needed
- Take equipment for repairs as needed
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Collaborate with snow removal company to ensure safe operations of the yard during snowstorms/winter months
- Check the yard for debris/trash that could cause damage to equipment
- Performs wash moves as specified by the Yard Management System
- Performs other functions as needed or directed by Management
- Additional duties as assigned
