About The Position

H.O. Penn Machinery is hiring immediately for a Yard Person in Holtsville, NY. This role is responsible for providing service of recognized superior value, maximizing the efficient use of service and welding processes, and effectively communicating with customers. Requirements

Working knowledge of construction equipment, including features, applications, and safe operation
Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor equipment repairs and identify issues
Proven ability to safely operate construction equipment, including loading, unloading, inspection, and preparation for rental or sale
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, web-based systems, and other business applications
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members
Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced yard environment
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety policies and procedures
Clean & valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

Load and unload equipment in a timely and safe manner
Ship and receive equipment through DBS system in a timely manner
Maintain daily gate log for equipment coming and going from the yard
Keep yard in a clean and organized condition
Check equipment in and out using Inspct and document any damaged or missing items on all equipment
Plan proper yard procedures for efficiency
Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources
Continually improve key process
Assist walk-in customers with demonstrations and product information
Represent the company in a positive and professional manner
Communicate with customers and haulers to keep the yard operating in a safe and efficient manner
Be an active part in the continuous improvement of H.O. Penn’s safety culture
Timely completion of any required safety training for self
Adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies
Understand job risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks, such as wearing all required personal protective equipment as required by task
