About The Position

As a member of the FlexCold team, the Yard Jockey is responsible for the safe operation of a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailer combination, bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. This role involves backing trailers to loading docks, performing safety checks to secure trailers, opening bay doors, and assisting dock workers in loading/unloading trailers. The Yard Jockey will maintain radio or telephone contact with the dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to be notified of changes in scheduled deliveries or pick-ups. Adherence to all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures is required.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent.
  • CDL license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Awareness of the safety and official procedures for handling goods and supplies.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and shift, including weekends if needed.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Constantly sit, stand, walk, see, talk, and hear.
  • Grasp or feel objects with the hand.
  • Reach above, below and at waist level.
  • Twist, squat, kneel.
  • Lift and/or move objects up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally work in cold and below freezing temperatures.
  • Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailer combination.
  • Bring trailers to loading docks for unloading.
  • Back trailer to loading docks.
  • Perform safety checks to secure trailer.
  • Open bay doors.
  • Assist dock workers in loading/unloading trailer.
  • Maintain radio or telephone contact with dispatcher for delivery/pick-up instructions and schedule changes.
  • Follow all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Unload and load product on and off containers or pallets.
  • Operate manual or electric pallet jack equipment.
  • Document and report damages or any issues with equipment, products, or materials to supervisor and follow instructions to correct the problem.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Complete equipment inspection form.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
