About The Position

I Supply, a food distribution company serving clients like Arby's, Popeye's, and Steak 'n' Shake, has an immediate opening for a 1st Shift Yard Jockey. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of trailers within the yard and to dock doors, directly supporting timely loading, unloading, and staging of ready loads for departure.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred or GED accepted.
1-2 years of CDL A driving experience preferred.
Valid Class "A" CDL preferred.
Ability to comprehend math, spelling, and reading of various forms to ensure accurate records are kept.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
Physical strength and dexterity to climb in and out of tractors multiple times during each shift while connecting air hoses, electric hoses, and inspecting the proper locking with the trailers for safe travel.
Daily exposure to noise, dust, and a wide diversity of temperatures from very cold to very warm in the distribution center and semi tractor yard.

Responsibilities

Drive a Yard Truck or Tractor to position trailers in the yard or at dock door locations.
Assist with timely loading, unloading, and staging of ready loads for departure.
Coordinate with Operations Management to ensure smooth trailer movement between departments during loading to keep docks clear for safety and efficiently service customer needs.
Assist Operations Management in achieving daily department goals.
Understand, embrace, and encourage the fulfillment of the Mission Statement with all associates.
Check temperatures on trailers.
Check fuel on reefer units.
Report any equipment issues immediately to the direct supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
