About The Position

Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family-owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor based in Harrisburg, PA. We proudly serve the Mid-Atlantic region, offering a wide range of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and more. The ideal Yard Jockey / Switcher will work closely with Feeser’s transportation and operations team, to provide exemplary customer service in our Harrisburg, PA location. This position is critical in ensuring that the Feeser’s Inbound and Outbound docks have a constant flow of loaded and empty trailers that are positioned safely, accurately, and efficiently from our yard to the dock. The successful candidate will have some experience in yard operations with an emphasis on switching and/or driving experience.

Requirements

  • Safety driven mindset.
  • Valid commercial driver's license or military equivalent experience.
  • Obtain and maintain a commercial driver’s medical card.
  • Successfully passing and maintaining Feeser's driving and knowledge proficiency tests.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Comply with all Feeser’s policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • High level of professionalism and strong work ethic.
  • The ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goals.
  • Detail oriented and accurate.

Responsibilities

  • Safely move company trailers within and between Feeser’s two Harrisburg facilities, to include both loads and empties for the Inbound and Outbound docks.
  • Dropping and hooking of trailers and truck based upon the load grid for that night.
  • Daily Yard checks. As needed updates throughout the night.
  • Rotate relaying loads to layover drivers as needed
  • Deliver to YCP as needed
  • Rescue drivers when they are up against hours of service issues
  • Ability to work proactively in a cross-functional team with transportation, garage personnel, pedestrians, and operations teams to facilitate the tasks for smooth nighttime operations.
  • Accurately report equipment statuses and productivity information to the Transportation, Garage or Operations Coordinators.
  • Carry out regular spot checks of the yard vehicles and reporting on damaged or inoperable equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Perform for other duties as assigned.
