About The Position

US Foods is seeking a Yard Jockey to join their team. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of the distribution center by managing truck and trailer assignments, moving trailers, and preparing them for the next day's deliveries. The Yard Jockey will also work with mechanics and attend company meetings. This position offers a strong safety culture, excellent local leadership, and opportunities for growth within the company.

Requirements

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
• At least 21 years of age
• Valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments
• Keep assigned equipment coupled
• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
• Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse
• Make sure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries
• Work with mechanics nightly
• Attend all required company meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
