About The Position
US Foods is seeking a dedicated Yard Jockey to join our team. This full-time position is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of our distribution center, ensuring equipment is ready for deliveries and backhauls. Requirements
- Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift
- Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions
- Ability to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred
- Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
Responsibilities
- Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments
- Keep assigned equipment coupled
- Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor
- Load, unload, or merge loads between environments
- Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
- Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
- Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse
- Make sure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries
- Work with mechanics nightly
- Attend all required company meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
